Yay! things have finally settled down since the birth of my daughter and I'm finding time to start crafting again! And just in time too, the new Close to my Heart fall Idea Book goes live on September 1! The way the book is organized has been redesigned and I really like it, not to mention all the new to die for stamp sets. So of course everyone wants to know the details for the workshop, so here they are:

New Crafts

I'm sure my husband shudders everytime I enter our local craft store and everytime I sit down at my computer to surf the web. He must be certain that I am going to find a new craft that I just have to try. His fears are justified as evidenced in the subject of this post. I have recently discovered cake decorating. And not just the Wilton class make a rose out of icing type of cake decorating (although I am interested in those as well), I found out that I can use my cricut to cut decorations out of gumpaste for a cake, how cool is that?!?! So here are some pictures of my first foray into this new craft. I probably should have chosen something a little less intricate for my first try but I still think it turned out pretty good. I'm planning to try again for my mom's birthday in a couple of weeks, but I think this time I'll try something a little simpler, like some flowers.

Mojo Monday 89

Well, here it is, my take on this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and it's only Tuesday! I'm so thrilled that I was able to do this today. My kids both slept at the same time for more than five minutes! That's practically unheard of anymore! They were both asleep for about an hour and a half or so, of course I also fell asleep in the process of getting them to sleep! But even after my catnap I still got about an hour of me time, just long enough to create this card and take pictures of it for everyone to see. The card uses the Simple Blossoms and Treasure Life stamp sets from Close to my Heart, the ink colors are Tulip, Blush and Sweet Leaf. The cardstock is Tulip from CTMH, the orange is from the Bazzill Bling line and I don't remember where the brown is from. The patterned paper is from MME. And last but not least, the paper flower is from Bazzill. Check out the Mojo Monday blog here to see the sketch. Happy Creations!

Card Patterns Sketch 14

I created this card for the CardPatterns Saturday Sketch Challenge. I used the With Love stamp set from Close to my Heart. The ink colors are clover meadow, sweet leaf, watermelon, ocean and hydrangea. I changed the sketch a little to give me more height to work with. While I really like the window pane effect I didn't want them each to be a seperate element so I made one large image across the panes. You can check out the original sketch here.

She's Here!

I am proud to announce the arrival of the newest member of our family: Harper Grace Davis.
Harper arrived on Monday April 13 at 7:52 am via c-section. Everyone is doing great. It was a little bit of a rough start but big brother Connor has now fully accepted her and he gets along well with her, as long as she's not crying ;)

Mojo Monday and Amy R Sketches

Okay, I am way impressed with myself this week. Not only did I complete cards for two different sketch challenges, I got them photographed AND posted before the week was over. That pretty much never happens! A couple of weeks ago I got the first two parts done but never got it posted. Anyway, to gain some inspiration of your own you can go to prairiepaperandink.typepad.com for the Amy R sketch (check out the blog candy she's giving away too!) and go to mojomonday.blogspot.com for the Mojo Monday Week 78 sketch. Also check out all the talented people who have shared their creations!

The first sketch is by Amy R. I used the Loves Me paper line by Imaginisce and the Dream Wishes Stamp set from Close to my Heart. I cut the flowers and leaves from the Imaginisce paper and I embossed the pink strip with a Cuttlebug embossin folder and then inked it with CTMH Chocolate Exclusive Inks Stamp pad. I also used the Chocolate Ink to stamp the image and the Baby Pink and Hollyhock markers to color it in.

The second card is for the mojo monday week 78 sketch. I used the printed papers from the Key to my Heart paper pack that Close to my Heart had as a promotion for National Papercrafting Month. I also used Tulip and Colonial White cardstock and the Bird Basics stamp set. I stamped the bird using CTMH inks Creme Brulee, Tulip and Chocolate. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and the brad (for the bird's eye) is from a LSS. I was really pleased with the way this one turned out because I had a little "help" on it, as in my 2 yr old son thought he needed to do the stamping on it. I got my own giggles out of the whole thing too because he kept calling the bird a duck and making quacking noises. It was a fun way to spend some mommy/son time.

I'm definitely going to have to do these sketch challenges more often. I don't usually get this creative on my own but I'm really proud of these two cards. Thanks to Amy and Julee for their great sketches!

One more thing, you have got to go check out Crafty Goings On at charmedcrafts.blogspot.com. They have an amazing blog candy giveaway going on right now. Way too good to even think about passing on. Go, now!

Embellished 10 page workshop

Okay, I finally got it done! I know its taken forever and I apologize for that but here are the pictures of the 10 page workshop that is planned for March 27. I have added photos and My Stickease cardstock stickers to the pages and that's all I've used. How great do these look? Sometimes simple can be better, especially when you're crunched for time! Remember to make your reservation for the March workshop by Monday Mar 16! Hope to see you there!
