Christmas Photo Banner

I had so much fun doing the Pile It On challenge last week that I had to do it again this week. This time I decided to do something other than a card. So, I came up with this vertical photo banner. I had some great pictures of my kids with Santa Clause and I wanted to display them.

The challenges I played along with this week are:
Pile It On:Tinsel Town (Glitter)
Cupcake Craft Challenge: Christmas Carol
Kaboodle Doodle: Snowflakes
Practical Scrappers: Anything Christmas
The Pink Elephant: your favorite Christmas color combo
To complete this project I made the layouts digitally using Scrapbook Max and the Merry Kissmas set from Melissa Bennett. I punched a snowflake (Martha Stewart) from the edge of the layouts and filled it with glitter (Art Glitter in Crystal) using the glitter and tape technique (see how here). Then I adhered the punched out snowflake to the layout with a pearl (Martha Stewart) in the middle of it. I matted each layout in Chocolate cardstock (from Close to my Heart) sprayed with Glimmer Mist (from Tattered Angels) in Cherub Pink. The ribbon is a satin edged wired shimmer organdy ribbon (floral department of Hobby Lobby). I ran it between the layouts and the mats and made a loop at the top to hang the banner from. I then used the same ribbon to tie a bow around the hanging loop.
I know its kind of difficult to see in the photos, the quality is not the best, but the colors I used are lt. pink, lt blue, lt. green and lt. red.
Thanks for looking!

Mojo Monday 114

Hello All! I've got a few cards to share with you today. The first one is for this week's Mojo Monday sketch (click here to try the sketch yourself). I used printed paper from K & Company. The cardstock is in Honey, Chocolate and Colonial White, all from Close to my Heart. The stamped images are also from Close to my Heart, the sentiment is from the Kanji Phrases set, the flower is from the Aspirations set. I used Desert Sand and Cranberry inks, also CTMH.

The next card was actually made for Mojo Monday sketch 111, but I never got it posted in time. Oh well. I used the Around the Block stamp set from CTMH, its the November Stamp of the month which means only 6 days left to get it!!! Go to my website to get it (and to take advantage of Stampaganza! Buy 2 stamps sets, get 1 free, now thru Nov. 30!) The papers are all from the Life Delights paper pack from CTMH.

This last card is the thank you card that I am putting in with all of the orders that were placed through me this month. It is a 3x3 card made from juniper cardstock, the polka dot paper is from the Jingle paper pack, both are from Close to my Heart. The sentiment is from the Fringed Phrases set, also from CTMH. The snowflake is a Martha Stewart punch and the glitter is Platinum from Art Glitter.
I think that this will be the last post containing artwork until after Thursday. My craft table is where we'll be eating so I've got to get it all cleaned off. Thanks for looking! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Placecards

Check this out! I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year for my husband's family. Whenever I host a big family meal like this, I feel it necessary to make placecards for everyone. This year I made Turkey ornaments for the placecards.
Aren't they cute? To make them you will need the following (all supplies are Close to my Heart unless otherwise noted):
2 5/8" dia. clear ornament (from local craft store)
cardstock in chocolate, holiday red, honey, orange, white daisy and black
ribbon (manuf. unknown)
martha stewart loop border punch
glue dots
xyron sticker maker
Here are the directions:
fill the ornament with rolled up strips of chocolate cardstock, I used 7 strips that are 6" x 3/4" and I rolled them around the handle of my embossing stylus then slid them into the ornament
cut 3 long ovals, mine are 3" long, 1 each of holiday red, honey and orange.
adhere ovals to each other in a fan shape, then adhere fan to back of the ornament.
cut out pieces for face: black for eyes, honey for beak, holiday red for waddle.
attach face pieces to front of ornament.
cut a tag from orange cardstock and an initial from white cardstock.
attach initial to tag and write name underneath initial. Tie tag onto ornament loop with ribbon.
for the stand cut a piece of honey cardstock at 6" x 3/4" and punch one of the long sides with the loop border punch. using a mini glue dot adhere the ends of the strip together to make a circle. set ornament in circle.
I can't wait to see how thes look on my table, once I get it cleared off, of course. Well, lots to do before thanksgiving comes and I'm not getting any of it done by sitting in front of the computer. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Mojo Monday 106

Well here I am again with the card for this week's mojo monday sketch. This week I actually finished two cards using the sketch! Yay me!
This first card follows the Mojo Monday sketch pretty closely. I used the following items from Close to my Heart to complete this card: Animal Cookies Level 2 Paper Packet (X7112B), Its a Zoo Stamp Set (C1360), Tulip Cardstock (X5753), White Daisy Cardstock (1385), Chocolate Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (Z2108), Black Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad ( Z2105), Black Waxy Flax (Z1089) and Summer Craft Buttons(Z1282).

The second card is inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch but doesn't cling as tightly to the original sketch. I actually made this card to give to my cousin at his wedding this weekend. The patterned paper used on this card is from the daisy Paisley paper pad by Paper Studio (available from Hobby Lobby). This card also uses products from Close to my Heart: White Daisy Cardstock, Black Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad, and Grey Wool Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad(Z2125). The stamp set is called Wisdom and is a retired set. The black rick rack is from an unknown source.
To see the original sketch and to play along visit MojoMonday.blogspot.com. To get more information about these projects or to order any of the Close to my Heart products used in these cards please email me or post a comment!
Remember there's only 2 days left to reserve your spot in the October Worshop! And keep an eye out on my blog for the projects that will be featured in the November workshop, I will be posting them soon.

Mojo Monday 105

I know, I know, two posts in one day, what is this world coming to? Even more amazing is the fact that I finished a card using the Mojo Monday sketch and I'm posting AND its still Monday! The lights in my office make the colors on this look a little funny but unfortunately its raining so using daylight to get the shot is a little out of the question. Everything I used for this card is Close to my Heart with the exception of the embossing I did on the pink circles. I used cardstock in sweet leaf, blush and chocolate. The printed paper and the lilac mist paper are from the Life Delights paper pack. I used chocolate ink to ink the edges of everything and to emphasize the embossing. The stamp set is from the Tickled Pink kit that was available in May as a National Scrapbooking Day promo. I think the card turned out really well and I love the circles idea. To see the original sketch and to take part in the creative fun yourself go to mojomonday.blogspot.com. Have a great week!
